Currently, there is a collection of small film companies that lease space (on a temporary, short-term basis) within the Oakland Army Base.  Due to redevelopment at the base, these companies will need to relocate.  This initiative seeks to identify a long-term, financially-sustainable site for the Army Base film tenants – as part of an overall strategy to build a local film production community in Oakland.  The Army Base film tenants have submitted a proposal to the Oakland Redevelopment Agency, and their proposal will be evaluated as part of the overall process to select a master developer for the Army Base.  This selection process is anticipated to take 6-12 months.  In addition, the Redevelopment Agency will continue to work with the film tenants to identify potential permanent sites, and to seek non-City funding sources to assist with their relocation and expansion plans.
